Poetry, Lyrics and Stories.

To me, writing is one of my favourite things. I have written quite a lot. I'm not professional (But consider myself to be... I've done worse) And so I think I should give some tips.

First off, I am the smartest person in my school at maths and the second smartest ever to go to my school. Yay! I have done the test and it is hard. An example of the questions is below:
"If X squared plus Y squared is X cubed, what are all the possibilities for X and Y which are intergers under 2011?"
And BTW, you get three makrs for stating every correct answer. To get the top marks, you need to prove it. Good luck.

Now for the writing. This is so important that it requires it's own heading so here it is:

Writing

Wow! A cool heading! So, what tips do I have?

First choose the subject. I like my poems the way the Japanese do, about stars and how they reflect the inner desires. A few Japanese lyrics are nice in English songs. Check out: "Life Is A Boat" for a good example.

When choosing a topic, make it original yet relatable. Songs about Neurotransmitting particles may be cool to you, but if people are going to not know about it, it can only function as humourous.

So, why am I talking about lyrics and poems as if they are the same thing? Because they are! A song is just a poem with Music.I'd say Epizeuxis and Ana / Epiphora are good poetic devices. For the subject, make it all one big metaphor or something. Repeating yourself is good for songs but don't overdo it... Damn that Lady Gag.

But storylines? You can choose one of the following:
Create your own world and own characters, this is harder... I'll explain in a bit.
Or simply add a twist on a common story. Maybe add a few characters, take away a few, give it a modern twist. The possibilities are endless.

When making your own world, you need to take into account what the audience knows. I try and make mine as easily identifiable as possible and mention the lore in the foreword. One of my worlds is set on an insland country and is a lot like modern times but features a lot of twists... It's semi-complicated.

Anyway, the characters are important. Try and add a clown, a knight, a princess and a prince along with a villain. By this I mean that there should be a humourous character that is useless, a hero who saves the day, a character who is the love interest of the hero and some guy who doesn't like the hero. Add some quirks like some abnormal phrases. See my previous post for details.

Now, the storyline. It can be different than normal by ending with the bad guys winning, it can be anything you like. But to establish it, the characters need to be relatable but crazy... It adds an atmosphere.

When it is done, I will post my story of Genesis. It will be crazy.
